Following the first radio airing of Courteeners’ new single Lose Control, on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio One show, we headed over to Piccadilly to meet up with the band’s frontman Liam Fray and drummer Michael Campbell, introducing the two band members to an unfamiliar interview concept, one where the band would be presented with a whiteboard and a selection of marker pens, in which would be used to answer their interview questions. So discussing the new single, their third studio album – Anna – and their iconic hometown.
Here’s how they got on.
To warm up, please draw what you can draw best.
Your third album will be released in February, what can we expect from it?
If anything, what makes your new album – Anna – better than your previous LP effort Falcon?
Draw a pie-chart of the elements that went into writing your single Lose Control.
What’s your favourite thing about your home city of Manchester?
Then to finish off, you recently played a huge homecoming show at Manchester’s MEN Arena. So could you draw a poster for your dream show?
