WB Single Review : The War On Drugs

Title :Come to the City
Label : Secretly Canadian
Release : 5th December 2011

Having just announced a European tour in 2012, US Indie band The War on Drugsare definitely ones to watch. Their second studio album Slave Ambient has received great critical acclaim and is set to be a breath of fresh air in a bit of a stale industry.

Come To The City is one of those mighty tracks that makes you sit up and re-evaluate your life. It’s anthemic beats are the driving force through the hazy, euphoric melodies and there’s a definite influence taken from the likes of Arcade Fire and Kasabian, to name a few. Britpop-esque vocals complete the mix and make it a track to be adored on both sides of the pond.

As The War On Drugs inspired brand of Indie filters into the UK music scene, they’ll find themselves as huge rivals for some of the UK’s biggest bands and they’ll be welcomed with open arms by the legions of Indie fans, desperate for something new and exciting.
